Jevi’s natural inclination to eastern philosophies started in 1999 when she began a meditation and yoga self-practice based on her readings. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Psychology in 2001. Her interest in yoga was intensified in 2003 while she was going through a tough time in her life. To cope up with her depression, Jevi decided to give up all her other activities and focused on hatha yoga and meditation. Her scoliosis did not hinder her practice, but made her more determined as she experienced yoga’s therapeutic effects on her health and well-being. She became convinced that yoga will become one of her lifetime commitments.
During that same period, she explored different spiritual philosophies by attending various lectures given by different resource speakers both from hereand abroad. Her major influences are the teachings of Edgar Cayce, A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada andParamahansa Yogananda. She has also joined classesgiven by an Indian yoga teacher, Kasturi Rao. In 2006,she became connected with the International YogaInstitute and became one of its certified yogainstructors. She is also certified by the PhilippineNational Red Cross to give Cardio PulmonaryResuscitation (CPR) and First Aid.
As a yoga teacher, Jevi’s goal is not only to help other people improve their health, but to encourage them to realize the deeper spiritual dimension of yoga which is the true essence of yoga – “union with God”.
Jevi is also a writer for health, lifestyle and spirituality.
